Kirsty Wilson – English Speech Therapist

I was born and raised in Scotland, where I completed both secondary school and University. In 2004 I graduated from Strathclyde University with a BSc in Speech and Language Pathology making me the youngest Speech and Language Therapist in the UK for quite a few years. Having spent the first 3 years of my career in the south west region of Scotland in 2007 the opportunity arose to move to Switzerland. My first few years here in Switzerland were spent supporting a young boy with significant Speech and Language difficulties full time. Gradually as he progressed, I began working independently with children attending international schools in the region.

Since 2009 I have been an independent Speech and Language Therapist in the Vaud and Valais region working with children who attend both local and international schools in the region. Although most of my client base are Anglophone, I also work with some bilingual students and non-native speakers who present with specific difficulties. My aim with all the students is to help them develop speech, language and communication skills to the best of their ability which in turn will allow them to freely access education.

In 2013 I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and have been working part time at St George’s International School in Montreux as a Learning Support Teacher. This has allowed me to help make speech and language targets for my older students more relevant to their daily school lives while continuing to build on targets identified through assessment.

I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists as well as the Health Professions Council.
